Thinking About Microblading? 7 FAQs Answered

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing that uses a handheld tool to create fine, hair-like strokes in the skin. The goal is to enhance your natural brows with soft, realistic results that look balanced and intentional, not overdone.

1. Is Microblading Safe?

Yes, when performed by a trained and experienced permanent makeup artist, microblading is considered safe. Proper sanitation, high-quality pigments, and correct technique all play a role in ensuring a safe treatment.

Choosing an artist who understands skin types, depth, and the healing process is what makes the biggest difference in both safety and results.

2. Is Microblading a Tattoo?

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing, but it’s different from traditional tattoos. Instead of a machine, a manual tool is used to deposit pigment more superficially in the skin. This is what creates the softer, more natural look compared to traditional tattooing.

3. Is Microblading Permanent?

Microblading is not permanent. Results typically last 1–3 years when done by a trained artist, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Over time, the pigment fades gradually, which allows your brows to evolve as your features and preferences change.

4. How Much Is Microblading?

Microblading pricing can vary depending on the artist’s experience, training, and the level of customization involved. Rather than focusing on cost alone, it’s important to consider the quality of work, healed results, and long-term outcomes.

At Beauty By B, pricing is based on artist level:

  • Level 3 Artist/Owner: $800 (includes touch-up within 12 weeks)

  • Level 2 Artist: $600

  • Level 1 Artist: $400

  • Annual Refresh (1–3 years): $350

All our artists are trained and work under Brittany’s guidance, so every client receives a consistent level of care and attention to detail.

5. How Long Does Microblading Take?

Your initial appointment usually takes approximately 1.5-3 hours.

This includes:

  • A consultation and brow mapping

  • Choosing a shape and pigment

  • The microblading procedure itself

A follow-up appointment is typically scheduled 6–8 weeks later to refine the results once your skin has healed.

6. When Can I Wash My Eyebrows After Microblading?

Aftercare instructions can vary slightly depending on your artist, but most clients are advised to avoid getting the brows saturated with water for the first 7 days. Gentle, brief cleansing (less than 10 seconds) is usually allowed as part of the healing process. Proper aftercare is essential for pigment retention and overall results.

7. How to Remove Eyebrow Microblading

If you’re unhappy with previous work or your brows have faded unevenly, there are options for removal or correction.

These may include:

  • Saline removal

  • Laser treatments

  • Colour correction and cover-up work

The best approach depends on the pigment, depth, and condition of your skin, which is why an in-person assessment is important.
